Fenomena kimia melingkupi kejadian, akibat, konsekuensi, atau hasil akhir yang muncul dari reaksi zat-zat kimia. Kimia lingkungan mempelajari berbagai aspek pada zat kimia yang berada di lingkungan, seperti sumber, reaksi, perpindahan, dan pengaruh zat kimia terhadap lingkungan, misalnya air, tanah, udara, serta pengaruhnya terhadap kegiatan manusia. Selain itu, kimia lingkungan juga mempelajari dasar kimia senyawa beracun yang berhubungan dengan kehidupan di lingkungan.
